FORWARD at the Rock is a Cape Cod style duplex that consists of two four-bedroom homes (8 bedrooms total), with the two buildings connected by a common courtyard. Each individual bedroom qualifies as affordable housing for individuals with “extremely low” incomes at or below 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Barnstable County, MA. In addition to the four single bedrooms, each home will have two and a half bathrooms, a common kitchen, living, dining and sitting areas, a mudroom, storage areas and a small office for staff.
The architectural design and furnishings are being implemented to not only be aesthetically pleasing, but also fully meet the needs and requirements of its residents. The homes will be single story for ease of mobility, and are designed to address issues of limited movement, vision, hearing, cognitive ability, constrained space, behavioral difficulties, and perception issues as well as other special Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) considerations pertaining to lighting, space, and multisensory therapeutic needs.
