Six Cape Towns Support New Supportive Homes

FORWARD is proud to announce that 6 Cape Cod towns from Bourne to Brewster are lending their support to FORWARD at the Rock PHASE II, new regional affordable housing for adults with autism and related disabilities. Together, Dennis, Barnstable, Yarmouth, Brewster, Bourne and Sandwich have committed $1,543,500 to the project! Thank you to the people of these towns and their Community Preservation Committees, Housing Trusts, Housing Partnerships and Town Staff.

This amazing countywide support is critical to the success of the project, new construction of eight affordable and supportive one-bedroom apartments for Cape Codders with autism and related disabilities who can live independently but still need supportive services, health and safety supervision and access to 24-hour emergency response, but do not require a congregate setting with around-the-clock staffing.

We also learned that we received 8 Project-Based Rent Vouchers from the Department of Housing and Community Development. This means that all eight apartments can be rented strictly based on the resident’s needs, not their ability to pay. No residents will pay more than 30% of their income in rent.

FORWARD continues to fundraise and plan for the project with an expected start of construction this coming fall and completion in late 2014.
